Tips for Proper Maintenance of the Plate Compactor

1. If the machine will not be used for an extended period, close the fuel valve (located beneath the choke lever) and let the engine idle until the fuel in the carburetor is completely consumed.
2. When performing asphalt repair work, apply a thin layer of diesel oil to the base plate to prevent asphalt from sticking.
3. After working with concrete or stabilized base layers, be sure to clean the machine thoroughly.
4. Use pure gasoline; fill the tank with unleaded gasoline rated 93 octane or higher.
5. Allow the engine to idle for 2–3 minutes before starting work, and do the same for 2–3 minutes before shutting it down.
6. Operate the machine with the throttle set to the maximum position.
7. When starting the engine, do not pull the starter cord with excessive force; simply pull until you feel resistance, then give it a sharp, strong tug to start the engine, and gently return the starter handle to its original position. In winter, you may close the choke to start the engine, but it must be opened immediately after starting.
