1. Before starting, check that the fuel tank has sufficient fuel and that there are no leaks in fuel lines or connections. Ensure the cooling system has adequate, clean coolant with no leaks and that the fan belt tension is correct. Verify that the connection between the internal combustion engine and the generator is secure, output wiring insulation is intact, and all instruments are present and functional.
2. After starting, run the unit at low speed for 3–5 minutes; operations may only begin once the temperature and oil pressure have stabilized at normal levels. During acceleration, there should be no abnormal noise, and the brushes on the slip rings and commutator must maintain good contact without bouncing or sparking. Power supply to the load may only commence once operation is stable and the frequency and voltage have reached their rated values.
3. If abnormal noises or odors occur, or if the water temperature rises sharply or oil pressure drops rapidly during operation, shut down the unit immediately to inspect and rectify the fault.
4. The generator power factor must not exceed a lagging value of 0.95. Frequency fluctuations must not exceed 0.5 Hz.
5. Before shutdown, disconnect the main switches for individual power supply circuits and gradually reduce the load. Then, disconnect the generator's main power supply switch, return the excitation rheostat to the position of maximum resistance to minimize voltage, disconnect the excitation switch and neutral grounding switch, and finally stop the internal combustion engine.
