Characteristics Of Gasoline Engines

Jun 01, 2026

Due to its low viscosity and rapid evaporation, gasoline can form a homogeneous mixture with air outside the cylinder-which is then drawn into the cylinder-or be injected directly into the cylinder via a fuel injection system, where the expanding gas performs work. The disadvantages of gasoline engines include lower thermal efficiency and higher fuel consumption compared to diesel engines; additionally, their ignition systems are more complex, and they are generally less reliable and less convenient to maintain than diesel engines.
