The stator is composed of the stator core, windings, frame, and other structural elements that secure these parts.
The rotor comprises components such as the rotor core (or magnetic poles and yokes), windings, retaining rings, center rings, slip rings, fans, and the rotor shaft.
Bearings and end shields connect and assemble the stator and rotor, allowing the rotor to rotate within the stator and cut across magnetic field lines. This action generates an induced electromotive force, which is routed out through terminals and connected to a circuit to produce an electric current.
